A Matter of Burning Importance
With winter nearly gone, the throngs, in their thongs, will be tanning, before long. However, to avoid burning, it’s important to wear sun-protective clothing, along with sun block.
While all fabrics provide some defense, especially in light colors, nylon and polyester are the best. Silk and wool aren’t as good; and cotton, flax, and rayon are even less effective.
Clothing that’s designed for sun protection will have a label that shows a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor), which can be up to 50+. Some are tightly-woven, to keep sunlight from penetrating between the threads, while others contain special dyes that make them reflective.
Of course, we can treat sun damage, with microdermabrasion, photo facials, and chemical peels; but we’d rather see you keeping your skin healthy!
