Toe Nail FungusThe development of toe nail fungus comes from the microscopic organisms called dermatophytes. It comes from the transfer of a fungal skin infection to your nail. It causes your nails to become thick, discolored, and brittle. There are simple ways to prevent this from happening.
How to Prevent Toe Nail Fungus
- Clip Toenails Correctly- Use properly sanitized nail clippers and cut them straight across.
- Wear the Right Shoes- Your shoes should not be touching your toenails and allow your foot to breathe. Be sure to use an antifungal power in them to prevent fungi from forming in your shoes.
- Avoid Going Barefoot- Places like locker rooms, public pools and showers are loaded with fungi. Always wear flip flops or shower shoes when using these areas.
